Miscellaneous: 1961 - The intention was to construct the Loran station at the Jupiter Inlet reservation however the U.S.A.F. leased a portion for the down range missile tracking system. The original Loran C station two miles north cause much interference to the AMR cable. The upgraded Loran-C equipment would cause an increase of 4 to 7 db. The Coast Guard located a tract of land at Jonathan Dickinson State Park which would meet the requirements. An agreement was made to swap the Hobe Sound, on park state land, in order to secure the tract of land for the A/C station.

27 APR 1964 - Joseph J. Simonet in a motorcycle accident which resulted in his right leg being amputated below the knee. Truck driver at fault.

14 SEP 1967 - Station held an Open House - Beacon News, Tequesta newspaper pictures

Talking about being up a creek without a paddle ...
NOV 1974 - During an annual inspection a crew member was to reenlist. Admiral Nielson agreed to relist Joe Haley on a channel buoy. The group set out on a small outboard and cut the engine during the swearing in. Time to return to shore, the boat was casted off and tried to start the motor. The motor would not start. At this point of time, it was noted there was no oars on board. However the boat did drift toward shore. Upon reaching shore at the Jupiter Inlet colony, LTJG Harvey was selected to knock on a door requesting to use the owner's phone. The owner agreed but was a bit skeptical of the situation. All this occurred while in Dress Whites. The admiral's comments, "Lost at sea. My wife will never believe that."

1979/80 - the entrance beacons were robbed. Police investigation - interviewing station personnel.
